508 Accessibility Questions

Post by WinArch » Fri Oct 16, 2015 5:45 pm

One of our clients has requested 508 Accessibility enhancements to one of our solutions that utilizes TeeChart ActiveX 14. I was looking for documentation within this solution around 508 compliance and could not locate it. Do you have any information on 508 accessibility documentation for or within TeeChart. Can you keyboard navigate the data points in a chart view? If so how? Are you willing to fill out a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template® (VPAT®) for us?

**The Voluntary Product Accessibility Template®, or VPAT®, is a tool used to document a product's conformance with the accessibility standards under Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. The purpose of the VPAT is to assist Federal contracting officials and other buyers in making preliminary assessments regarding the availability of commercial "Electronic and Information Technology" products and services with features that support accessibility.

Hello,

Firstly, apologies for not getting an answer back to you earlier. This got put in a pipe for a closer look and didn't get the attention it needed.

TeeChart doesn't natively provide a means, in keeping with 508, for alternative mobility within a Chart. It does however, provide the means for a programmer to include whatever functionality that he/she might wish to make available.

For example, an arrow keycode could be made to move focus to a next point on a Series; or a tab could be intercepted to move focus between Chart Axis, Legend, Title and so forth. An alternative means to zoom or scroll could be provided by external buttons or an interpretation of a keystroke. Because the options are myriad it is down to the decision of the developer as to what functionality should be include and in what way facilitated.

I hope that may be of help.
